US STOCKS-Profits lift stocks, Dow ends over 14,000 for 1st time

(Reuters) - Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones
industrial average rose 82.11 points, or 0.59 percent,
to end unofficially at 14,000.33. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index was up 6.90 points, or 0.45 percent, to finish
unofficially at 1,553.07. The Nasdaq Composite gained
20.55 points, or 0.76 percent, to close unofficially at
2,720.04, after earlier climbing to 2,724.74, its highest in
six-and-a-half years.
