UPDATE 1-Yingli Green Energy files for $350 mln IPO

(Reuters) - The Chinese manufacturer of solar energy products said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that Goldman Sachs LLC, UBS Investment Bank, Piper Jaffray, and CIBC World Markets are underwriting the IPO.

The filing did not detail the number of ADSs the company will offer or the expected price range of the ADSs. Each ADS will represent one ordinary share in the offering.

AMD shares rise on bullish Nvidia comments

(Reuters) - Nvidia, which makes graphics processors and chipsets that compete with those from AMD's ATI unit, said on Thursday that first-quarter chipset sales sank 31 percent from the previous quarter but it expected that segment to resume growth in the current quarter.

AMD shares have risen more than 7 percent this week, including a gain of 4.4 percent on Thursday after the No. 2 maker of computer processors said it had cut 430 jobs in an effort to trim costs. On Friday afternoon, the stock was up 51 cents to $14.56.

Chrysler recalls minivans in United States

(Reuters) - "Certain minivans are being recalled in states which use large amounts of salt for road de-icing to replace their up-front air bag sensors," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its Web site, http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/home.cfm.

"Sensors with brass bushings may corrode and crack allowing water to enter the sensor, causing it to fail, illuminating the air bag warning light," NHTSA said.

Orange Juice Prices Rises as Florida Drought, Storms May Hurt Citrus Crop

(Bloomberg) -- Orange-juice futures in New York headed for the second-straight weekly gain on supply concerns amid speculation an early storm signals an active hurricane season in Florida, and a drought might hurt groves in the state.

Andrea, the first-named storm of this hurricane season, formed three weeks before the June start of the season. While the storm weakened today to a subtropical depression off the Florida coast, it arrived at a time when a drought reduced water levels. Fires are burning in 54 of the state's 67 counties this morning, the Florida Division of Emergency Management said.

GM, Ford turnarounds hinge on economy: S&P

(Reuters) - The strength of the U.S. economy remains the key wildcard to the automakers' turnaround plans, S&P analysts Robert Schulz and Gregg Lemos Stein said in a presentation on Friday in London.

"Current liquidity at both GM and Ford are fairly strong and management are focused on restructuring," said Schulz.

Philadelphia Racial Divide Fades in Democrats' Campaign for Mayoral Mantle

(Bloomberg) -- Philadelphia voters are signaling a readiness to cast aside decades of racial polarization when they choose the man most likely to become their next mayor in the Democratic primary May 15.

The leaders in the field of five -- City Councilman Michael Nutter, who is black, and multimillionaire businessman Tom Knox, who is white -- drew the broadest support across racial lines in a Keystone Poll two days ago. Among white registered voters, 41 percent backed black candidates, while 22 percent of black voters favored white contenders.

Anglo American's surge boosts S.African stocks

(Reuters) - South African stocks closed higher on Friday, boosted by heavyweight miner Anglo American's more than four percent rise after rumours that the miner would make a hostile bid for Rio Tinto.

"There is a rumour in London that Anglo American will make a hostile bid for Rio Tinto," a Johannesburg-based trader said.

Post Properties shares fly on another buyout rumor

(Reuters) - Green Street Advisors analyst Craig Leupold estimated the value of the company's assets are about $54.00 per share, but given the amount of capital-chasing real estate, a bid could be higher.

"All in all, it would be reasonable to expect Post shareholders to net a price in the $54 to $60 per share range after transaction costs if a deal is consummated," he wrote in a research note.

Russian Micex Index Declines, Led by Rosneft on Oil-Industry Downgrade

(Bloomberg) -- Russian stocks dropped for a fourth day after Goldman, Sachs & Co. cut its recommendation on the country's oil companies. OAO Rosneft and OAO Surgutneftegaz led the decline.

The ruble-based Micex Index sank 2.4 percent to 1625.69 today, with only four out of its 30 stocks rising. The measure lost 4.3 percent this week, its worst performance since a plunge in Chinese stocks triggered a global emerging-market slump during the first week of March.

S.Africa maize prices follow Chicago down

(Reuters) - South African maize prices dipped on Friday, breaking the key 1,650 rand level as Chicago prices fell on the back of good planting weather in the United States.

The main July white maize contract closed 2.68 percent down at 1,634 rand a tonne, down 7.4 percent this week. That compares to highs of above 2,000 rand touched in March when supply issues dominated trade.

Florida Orange Crop Forecast Is Little Changed After Two Cuts, USDA Says

(Bloomberg) -- The U.S. government said Florida's orange crop, the second-biggest in the world, will be little changed from its month-ago estimate.

Florida will produce 130.6 million boxes of oranges this season, down from 130.7 million forecast in April, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a report. Six of seven analysts and traders in a Bloomberg survey expected the forecast to be unchanged. A crop of this size would be the smallest in 17 years.

U.S. Stock Futures Gain; Retail Sales, Inflation Data Spur Rate-Cut Hopes

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures extended gains after retail sales unexpectedly declined and a gauge of producer prices was unchanged for a second month, spurring speculation the Federal Reserve has leeway to cut interest rates.

Retail sales dropped 0.2 percent last month, the most since September, said the Commerce Department. Purchases excluding automobiles were unchanged.

UPDATE 1-Goldcorp 1st-qtr profit jumps on Glamis takeover

(Reuters) - Goldcorp earned $124.9 million, or 18 cents a share, in the period ended March 31. That compares with a profit of $92.4 million, or 27 cents per share in the year-before period.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected, on average, profit of 18 cents per share in the quarter.

Moroccan Benchmark Index Drops for Third Day: World's Biggest Mover

(Bloomberg) -- Moroccan stocks fell for a third day on speculation the advance in the main index this year will not be sustained.

Afriquia Gaz, a distributor of gas, led the decline. Maroc Telecom, the largest telephone company in the north-African kingdom, also fell.

Canadian Dollar Falls to Lowest in Almost Two Weeks on Surprise Jobs Drop

(Bloomberg) -- Canada's dollar weakened to the lowest in almost two weeks after a government report unexpectedly showed employers shed jobs.

Canada's economy had 5,200 fewer jobs last month after creating 54,900 positions in March, Statistics Canada said today. The median forecast of 26 economists surveyed by Bloomberg was for 19,000 new jobs in April. The unemployment rate held steady at 6.1 percent.
