UPDATE 1-If it doesn't kill you: Arsenic helps in cancer

(Reuters) - CHICAGO, June 2 - Arsenic, the poison of choice
for many a murder mystery, can significantly extend survival in
patients with a rare form of leukemia, U.S. researchers said on
Saturday.




"It's a much smaller dose than you would use to poison
people," added Dr. Bayard Powell of Wake Forest University
Baptist Medical Center.

Bancroft family to meet with Murdoch

(Reuters) - The Journal also reported that Michael Elefante, a partner at the law firm that represents the Bancroft family, has changed his mind about considering selling Dow Jones, the Journal reported.




Elefante now has said the company should consider a sale to Murdoch or another bidder in order for the media company to remain competitive, the Journal reported, citing sources.

Zimbabwe targets 25 pct mth/mth inflation by year-end

(Reuters) - Zimbabwe's government has promised to reduce monthly inflation to below 25 percent from the current 100 percent by year-end after signing a price and wage protocol with business and labour to halt a deep recession.

The southern African country is battling its worst economic crisis that has pushed inflation to the world's highest at over 3,700 percent as prices double every month in an economy where unemployment is above 80 percent and poverty levels rising.

US auto sales steady in May after weak spring

(Reuters) - U.S. auto sales steadied in May to show surprising strength in the face of high gas prices and a weak housing market, led by gains for industry leaders General Motors Corp. and Toyota Motor Corp.

Ford Motor Co. posted a 10 percent sales drop as it pulled back from low-margin sales to rental agencies and failed to make up for the lost volume in its U.S. showrooms.
