Corzine going back to work Monday: report

(Reuters) - Corzine, who was released from the hospital on Monday after breaking his left leg, several ribs, a collarbone and his sternum, was doing well, Coley said.

The governor's office could not immediately be reached for comment.

Buffett sings, strums, shops at Berkshire meeting

ABN halts offers for LaSalle but RBS to bid-report

(Reuters) - On Friday, ABN asked the Dutch court for clarity on whether its ruling to freeze the LaSalle sale affected a "go shop" provision, allowing counter bidders to trump Bank of America's $21 billion offer.

ABN was not immediately available to comment. The Dutch court would not give clarification on its ruling until after the weekend, a spokesman for the court said on Saturday.

Dollar falls on soft payrolls report

(Reuters) - The dollar fell on Friday after a report showed U.S. payrolls in April grew at their slowest pace in more than two years, suggesting an economic slowdown has finally caught up with the labor market.

The data cast a cloud over near-term U.S. growth and bolstered the case for an interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve later this year, pushing the euro to a session peak at $1.3610, near a record high above $1.3680.

(Reuters) - Were Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc. to merge, they would face a Noah's Ark problem: they've got two of everything.

As the biggest Internet players behind Google Inc., Microsoft and Yahoo's overlapping Internet businesses range from instant messaging to e-mail and advertising, as well as dozens of similar media and e-commerce properties, including news, sports, travel, music and finance.

European Stocks Gain on Mergers and Higher Earnings; Reuters, BSkyB Climb

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks advanced this week as takeover speculation intensified and corporate earnings beat analysts' estimates.

Shares of Reuters Group Plc, the world's largest publicly traded provider of financial data, and music company EMI Group Plc surged after they received takeover approaches. British Sky Broadcasting Group Plc, Novo Nordisk A/S and Continental AG rallied after reporting better-than-expected earnings.
