(Bloomberg) -- Philadelphia voters are signaling a readiness to cast aside decades of racial polarization when they choose the man most likely to become their next mayor in the Democratic primary May 15.
The leaders in the field of five -- City Councilman Michael Nutter, who is black, and multimillionaire businessman Tom Knox, who is white -- drew the broadest support across racial lines in a Keystone Poll two days ago. Among white registered voters, 41 percent backed black candidates, while 22 percent of black voters favored white contenders.
