(Reuters) - South African stocks closed higher on Friday, boosted by heavyweight miner Anglo American's more than four percent rise after rumours that the miner would make a hostile bid for Rio Tinto.
"There is a rumour in London that Anglo American will make a hostile bid for Rio Tinto," a Johannesburg-based trader said.
