Canadian Dollar Falls to Lowest in Almost Two Weeks on Surprise Jobs Drop

(Bloomberg) -- Canada's dollar weakened to the lowest in almost two weeks after a government report unexpectedly showed employers shed jobs.

Canada's economy had 5,200 fewer jobs last month after creating 54,900 positions in March, Statistics Canada said today. The median forecast of 26 economists surveyed by Bloomberg was for 19,000 new jobs in April. The unemployment rate held steady at 6.1 percent.
