Brasil Telecom 2nd-quarter profit up 39 pct

(Reuters) - Brasil Telecom Participacoes is the holding company that
runs Brasil Telecom SA , the country's No. 3
fixed-line operator. Its controlling shareholders include
Citigroup Inc. and several Brazilian state-run pension
funds.
